Abstract

Allah the Exalted created Adam honorable and respected, and bestowed this status and honor on his descendants as an inheritance. As a result of turning away from the divine guidance, along with other evils, the practice of humans enslaving other humans became the norm for conquerors. Human history is a witness to the fact that as a result of wars, millions of people were taken as slaves and concubines by the conquerors, like herds of sheep and goats. In addition to the conquered, there were other types of slaves who were deceived and sold, such as Hazrat Salman Farsi and Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with them). The third type of slaves were those who inherited slavery, meaning they were the children of slaves.At the time of the ظهور Islam, the system of slavery was an integral part of the Arab social. system. Islam adopted it with disapproval, but at the same time introduced such changes in the social system and laws that freed humans from the slavery of other humans and brought them into the servitude of one Allah.As for the question of the permissibility of slavery in Islamic law, the answer is that this permission is only given in the case of prisoners of war when there is no other viable solution. In the context of the modern era, since the international norm is no longer the system of slavery, but rather the practice of keeping prisoners in prisons, releasing them, or exchanging them, Muslims will also abide by this international norm. This is the command of the Sharia.
