Abstract

Urdu is an Indo-Aryan language. It is the national language and Lingua Franca of Pakistan. The issue of its origin has been remained an important topic amongst the linguists of Sub-Continent since long, and still it needs more research work and discussions. Some of the linguists start relating the birth of Urdu language to different regions soon after the publication of Naseer-Ud-Din Hashmi’s book, ‘Deccan Mein Urdu’, instead of pondering deep into its text. In his researches, Naseer-Ud-Din Hashmi emphasized that Urdu literature has been originated firstly in southern region of Sub-Continent (Deccan). This misconception of Naseer-Ud-Din Hashmi’s statement caused a fallacy regarding the birth place of Urdu language.
